Your marriage is very important : it is the basis of your adult life. It forms the symbol of your commitment to your spouse, and it also connects two families via this legal relationship.
Usually this happy event is the starting point for the new couple to start a family of their own. It can be a hard transition though. If you want to keep the stars of newlywed love in your eyes while trying to adjust to life as a new parent and trying to keep your head above water at work, this is not going to be easy.
Remember that love can shift over time. There are normal fluctuations to it, and it also can be affected by the living situation you are in. Sometimes love can start to fade. If you think your love is fading, check for these three signs:
1. Lying to your spouse. Even when you are telling lies about small things, or ‘little white lies’ that seem harmless, lying to your spouse indicates a serious problem. The basis of a strong marriage is trust and honesty. Lies, therefore, point to a weakness in the bond of your trust.
White lies can be especially pernicious. Often we start with a white lie that we told for a ‘good reason,’ to avoid hurting someone. But then it makes it that much easier to lie again in the future. You can start to tell bigger and bigger lies before you even realize it is becoming an issue.
2. You argue frequently over trivial things. Regular arguing over smaller issues is also a problem. This can point toward a lack of tolerance. If you are becoming less tolerant of your spouse you may be falling out of love.
When you argue, you can start to feel angry and frustration also. You need to keep them in check, because if you really let fly and say and do hurtful things this will damage your marriage.
3. Infrequent intimacy. If you and your spouse don’t seem to feel passionate about one another anymore and are rarely intimate, this should concern you. Passion is a natural consequence of loving feelings, and where passion dwindles love has likely already begun to fade.
If you notice any of these signs that your loving relationship is in trouble, take steps to repair your union before it degrades to a critical point.
