Were You There In Past Life?

Reincarnation is one of the basic beliefs in the religions, Hinduism and Buddhism. It sounds like a matter of being practical if you view it from a non-believer’s perspective. If all souls who ever lived were gathered together in an afterlife location, it would be more crowded than Mexico City. With rebirth a reality, it would resolve the problem of overcrowding.

But, who can say for sure until, well, until they pass away themselves. More people believe in this occurrence than disbelieve. There are more religions that believe in reincarnation. For non-spiritual people, it still seems a common answer to life’s mysterious happenings.

Most people have the experience of being in a place they are sure they have been in before. But, perhaps they are vacationing in a country they never visited before. They see a building and feel a chilly fear as if something bad happened there. How many years has that building been here you wonder. Is it possible you had something happen to you here in a previous life?

If you are having problems in your current life, you may seek a therapist. There is a therapy for so many of life’s problems. Rational emotive therapy, scream therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy and psychoanalysis come to mind. However, if you seriously believe your problem has its roots in a previous life, you might want to go to a past life regression therapist.

Check with the International Association of Past Life Therapists. They will help you locate someone working in this type of therapy. If you cannot find someone reputable, it might be best to talk with someone verifiable, perhaps a member of the American Psychological Association.

Meditation is a powerful tool you can learn to use on your own. Sit quietly and repeat a token phrase over and over until you feel yourself relax. Continue to let your mind wander. It may take you back to early childhood. Or, it may take you back even further. There is no way to determine if your thoughts are real memories from a previous incarnation. They might be just memories. They might also be a figment of your imagination. In the case of a particular memory you have that disturbs you, examine it logically to find any possible connection to the present time. If there is none, you might want to continue with meditation or try another method.

A hypnotist is not some magician on a stage to amuse the crowd. A modern hypnotist is an educated therapist with additional training in the methods. You can, under a trance, explore your suspicions about having lived before. If you think of a random name or address, you can then try to confirm the information after your session is over.

If there is a memory or feeling that can’t be explained by anything in your experience, a past life situation may be explanatory. It cannot hurt to think it over and try to analyze it. If hypnotic therapy assists the process, that can’t be a bad aid to this life.

Whether or not you believe in the past life experience theory, try to focus on the life you can enjoy now. If you lived before, don’t expect to discover you were famous or rich. You may have been the opposite gender you are now or died at an early age. The important thing is to focus your attention forward. Understanding the past is good, but only pursue it with an academically trained therapist. Your best way to enjoy life now, is focus on the future and how you can enjoy it.
